Lahore, February 15, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting the country’s economic development, particularly in the agriculture sector, during his visit to Green Pakistan Initiative projects in Cholistan.

Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, federal and provincial ministers, and other officials, General Munir highlighted Punjab’s critical role as the agricultural backbone of Pakistan. He commended the province’s leadership and farmers for adopting modern agricultural practices and emphasized the transformative potential of the Green Corporate Program in boosting the sector.

As part of the Green Pakistan Initiative, several landmark projects were launched, including Smart Agri Farm – A state-of-the-art agricultural facility focused on advanced farming techniques, Green Agri Malls – Centers designed to provide farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and modern machinery and Agri Research Facilitation Center – A hub for innovation and research aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity.

Officials briefed the delegation on cutting-edge agricultural machinery being introduced to improve yield and efficiency. To further modernize irrigation and farming techniques, 25 Green Agri Malls have already been established across Punjab, with a target of 250 nationwide by the end of the year. Additionally, a 5,000-acre modern agricultural farm has been launched under the initiative.

The Green Agri Mall and Services Company will play a pivotal role in providing subsidized seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to farmers, along with affordable access to advanced agricultural equipment, including drones for precision farming.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz hailed the initiative as the beginning of a new era in agriculture, ensuring farmers’ prosperity and contributing significantly to Pakistan’s economic growth. The project aims to increase productivity, modernize farming techniques, and strengthen food security, ultimately paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector.
