Dera Ghazi Khan, February 22, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday reaffirmed his commitment to reducing electricity costs and announced the establishment of a cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Addressing a public gathering, he also unveiled plans to build a university in Rajanpur, emphasizing the federal government’s focus on balanced national development. He highlighted efforts to uplift less-developed regions, particularly South Punjab, through an extensive network of infrastructure and welfare projects.

Speaking on economic progress, Shehbaz stated that inflation had dropped from 40% to 2.4%, while interest rates had declined from 22% to 12%. He asserted that while Pakistan’s economy had stabilized, the next priority must be fostering prosperity and creating employment opportunities for the youth.

The prime minister vowed that Pakistan would no longer rely on loans for development, promising a future of self-sufficiency and sustainable economic growth. He assured that new job opportunities would emerge, marking the beginning of a transformative era for the country.

On security, Shehbaz condemned terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, accusing hostile forces of attempting to destabilize Pakistan. He stressed that national progress is impossible without eliminating terrorism and paid tribute to the security personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the country’s stability.

Expressing confidence in Pakistan’s potential, the prime minister urged citizens to work diligently. He declared, “If Pakistan does not surpass India in progress, then my name is not Shehbaz Sharif.”
