Dubai, February 26, 2025: Pakistan’s players have suffered a significant drop in the latest ICC ODI rankings following their underwhelming performances in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Several key players have slipped in the rankings, reflecting their struggles throughout the tournament.
Fakhar Zaman, who was initially ruled out but returned during the tri-nation ODI series, has dropped three places to 17th in the ODI Batters’ rankings, now holding 621 rating points.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s white-ball captain, has also seen a sharp decline. After scoring just three runs against New Zealand and 46 against India, he fell four places from 16th to 20th, with 616 points.
Imam-ul-Haq remains at 32nd place with 582 points, despite a disappointing 10-run return to ODIs against India in Dubai. Meanwhile, Saim Ayub, sidelined due to injury, dropped eight places to 35th with 572 points after a prolonged absence from international cricket.
Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha retains his 46th position with 544 points, having managed 42 runs against New Zealand and 19 against India.
On the other hand, India’s Virat Kohli has re-entered the top five in the ODI rankings. His 51st ODI century against Pakistan propelled him one spot up to 5th place.
India continues to dominate the ODI batting rankings, with Shubman Gill (1st) and Rohit Sharma (3rd) holding their spots in the top five, thanks to consistent performances in the Champions Trophy. Gill has extended his lead at the top with 817 rating points. Despite Pakistan’s struggles, Babar Azam remains in 2nd place with 770 points.
In the ICC ODI Bowlers’ rankings, Shaheen Shah Afridi has dropped five places to 9th with 619 points, following a disappointing campaign. Fellow pacer Haris Rauf also declined, falling six places to 22nd with 553 points. However, Naseem Shah climbed two places to 42nd with 491 points.
Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, despite taking just two wickets against India and New Zealand, made an impressive leap, jumping 26 places to 49th with 470 points.
Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana continues to lead the ODI bowling rankings with 680 rating points, despite Sri Lanka not participating in the Champions Trophy. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains in 2nd place.
