Islamabad, February 27, 2025: The PML-N-led coalition government expanded its federal cabinet on Thursday, with 24 new federal ministers, state ministers, and advisers taking oath at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani, and other senior officials.
One of the most notable additions to the cabinet was Pervez Khattak, a seasoned politician who has previously served as federal defence minister and chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He took oath as a special adviser, marking his official return to the federal government under the new coalition setup.
The new inductions include 12 federal ministers, 9 state ministers, and 3 advisers, reflecting a broader inclusion of coalition partners in the Shehbaz-led government.
Among those sworn in as federal ministers are Hanif Abbasi, Moeen Watto, Mustafa Kamal, Sardar Yousuf, Aurangzeb Katchi, Rana Mubashir, Raza Hayat Hiraj, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Shaza Fatima, Junaid Anwar, and Khalid Magsi.
The new state ministers include Talal Chaudhry, Barrister Aqeel Malik, Malik Rasheed, Kheal Das Kohistani, Abdul Rehman Kanju, Bilal Azhar Kayani, Mukhtar Bharath, Aun Chaudhry, and Wajiha Qamar.
In addition to Pervez Khattak, Muhammad Ali and Tauqir Shah also took oath as special advisers.
While 27 officials were scheduled to take oath, federal minister Imran Shah and state ministers Shezra and Armghan were unable to attend due to traffic delays.
According to sources, some ministers may have their portfolios reassigned, while others could be removed.
