Lahore, March 2, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a comprehensive crackdown to curb inflation across the province, directing authorities to take immediate action against price gouging and ensure the affordability of essential goods during Ramadan.
Chairing a special video-link meeting with all commissioners and deputy commissioners, CM Maryam Nawaz issued strict directives to Punjab Chief Secretary to personally oversee the anti-inflation drive and submit daily reports on food prices and quality. She directed Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to ensure strict compliance with food safety standards and prevent the sale of substandard products. She also directed Deputy & Assistant Commissioners to closely monitor the prices of bread and flour, ensuring that no artificial price hikes occur.
She said that special Ramadan Bazaars should be set up where essential goods will be available at subsidized rates to support citizens during the holy month.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the strict regulation of fruit and vegetable prices, warning of severe legal action against profiteers. She assured that she is personally monitoring food prices multiple times a day through a real-time dashboard.
She also warned officials that no negligence in the anti-inflation campaign would be tolerated, especially during Ramadan, when demand for essential items surges.
