Islamabad, March 3, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed satisfaction over the continuous decline in inflation, as reflected in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
In a statement, the prime minister highlighted that as his government nears the completion of its first year, the latest inflation figures bring encouraging news. He noted that the inflation rate dropped to 1.5 percent in February 2025, marking the lowest level since September 2015. From July 2024 to February 2025, inflation averaged 5.9 percent, a sharp decline compared to 28 percent during the same period last year.
Shehbaz Sharif credited the significant drop in inflation to the dedicated efforts of the government’s economic team, emphasizing that key economic indicators were steadily improving. He attributed this progress to effective policymaking and coordinated efforts among national institutions aimed at strengthening the economy, promoting business, and encouraging investment.
He further stated that the positive macroeconomic trends were beginning to benefit the public, and he remained hopeful that inflation would decline even further. Ensuring the availability of essential goods at affordable prices remains a top priority for his government, he added.
