Karachi, September 11, 2024- The Honorary Consulate of Ethiopia in Karachi has officially been inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan. The opening of the Consulate is expected to further strengthen the growing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Dr. Jemal congratulated H.E. Ibrahim Tawab on his appointment as the Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi. He emphasized that Karachi, as Pakistan’s business hub and cultural center, will play a significant role in enhancing bilateral trade and fostering closer people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The Ambassador highlighted Ethiopia’s active engagement with Pakistan under the “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies, aimed at connecting Pakistan with the African continent. He noted the important steps taken by the Ethiopian government to strengthen ties, including establishing its mission in Islamabad in 2022, introducing Ethiopian Airlines to Pakistan in 2023, and now opening the Honorary Consulate in Karachi.
H.E. Ibrahim Tawab, the newly appointed Honorary Consul, expressed his commitment to advancing trade and investment between the two countries. He praised Ambassador Dr. Jemal’s vision for promoting Pakistan-Africa trade relations and highlighted the vast business and investment opportunities available in Ethiopia.
