Hobart, November 18, 2024- Australia completed a commanding 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan in the T20 series with a dominant seven-wicket victory in the final match. The hosts chased down a modest target of 117 in just 11.2 overs, led by Marcus Stoinis’s explosive knock of 61 off 27 balls, featuring five sixes and five fours.
Pakistan’s innings faltered after electing to bat first, as they were bowled out for a mere 117. Babar Azam top-scored with 41 runs, while Haseebullah (24), Shaheen Afridi (16), and Irfan Khan (10) were the only others to reach double figures.
The rest of the batting lineup struggled, with seven players—including Sahibzada Farhan, Usman Khan, and Salman Ali Agha—failing to score in double digits.
Australia’s bowlers dominated the proceedings, with Aaron Hardie taking three wickets. Adam Zampa and Spencer Johnson chipped in with two each, while Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett picked up one apiece.
In Pakistan’s bowling effort, Shaheen Afridi, Jahandad Khan, and Abbas Afridi managed to claim a wicket each, but the total proved too small to defend.
Pakistan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan sat out the final match, with Haseebullah stepping in. Salman Ali Agha captained the side in just his third T20 International.
Australia’s emphatic victory not only showcased their batting firepower but also highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing struggles with consistency in the shortest format. The series sweep marks a low point for Pakistan, who will need significant improvements ahead of future tournaments.
