Rawalpindi, November 11, 2024- Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, Chief of the Australian Army, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, on Monday and commended Pakistan’s extensive efforts in countering terrorism, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement, ISPR reported that the meeting included discussions on global and regional security matters of mutual interest. General Munir emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s relationship with Australia, highlighting the importance of strong bilateral ties to support shared goals of peace and stability.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in defence and security, recognizing the importance of their collaboration for regional and global peace.
Lieutenant General Stuart praised Pakistan’s dedication to combating terrorism and expressed his intention to strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two nations.
Upon his arrival at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Lieutenant General Stuart laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honour Pakistan’s martyrs. He was received with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army, reflecting the warm reception extended by Pakistan.
