Lahore, October 19,2024-In a recent development regarding the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed that the Indian cricket team can come to Pakistan, play their scheduled match, and return home without staying overnight. According to Indian media, the PCB has offered the Indian Cricket Board the option for the team to travel to either Chandigarh or New Delhi immediately after the match.
The PCB’s proposal includes the option for the Indian team to stay in either Delhi or Chandigarh if desired, citing security concerns as the reason for offering these alternatives. Sources indicate that the PCB is keeping its options open to ensure India’s participation in the Champions Trophy.
As of now, the Indian government or the Indian Cricket Board has not made any official announcement regarding the team’s travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Earlier, it was suggested that India’s matches could be held at two venues instead of one. Reports suggest that the PCB has agreed to designate Lahore and Rawalpindi as the two venues for India’s matches. However, the final decision rests with the Indian government.
According to the proposed schedule, India is set to play three group matches in Lahore, and to minimize travel, all of India’s matches are scheduled at this single venue. The PCB also proposed that India could arrive on the day of the match, play, and leave immediately, as part of several options discussed during interactions between the two cricket boards.
