Islamabad, September 21,2024-Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, has raised nine critical questions regarding the explanation issued by majority judges on September 14, concerning the matter of reserved seats. Sources reveal that the Chief Justice has directed Supreme Court Registrar, Jazeera Saleem, to provide responses to these inquiries.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned when did Election Commission and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed their requests for clarification? He further asked why the requests from PTI and the Election Commission were not referred to the Practice and Procedure Committee?
Additionally, the Chief Justice inquired how miscellaneous petitions were fixed for hearing without being listed in the cause list? He sought clarification on whether notices were issued to the concerned parties and the Attorney General by the Registrar’s office, and where these petitions were heard—whether in a courtroom or a chamber?
Further questions raised by the Chief Justice included why no cause list was issued for announcing the decision on the petitions, why the order was not fixed in the courtroom for announcement, how the original file and order were uploaded without being submitted to the Supreme Court Registrar, and who authorized the upload of the order on the Supreme Court’s website? These queries highlight the Chief Justice’s concerns about procedural transparency and adherence to judicial protocols.
