Peshawar, November 22, 2024 – Amid a sharp increase in terrorist attacks across Pakistan in recent months, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Friday reaffirmed the military’s commitment to dismantling hostile terrorist networks and eliminating the illegal forces threatening national security.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that General Munir made these remarks during a visit to Peshawar, following the National Apex Committee meeting held last Tuesday and ahead of the provincial apex committee meeting.
The army chief emphasized that defeating the malicious plans of hostile elements remains a priority for the nation’s security forces. He stressed that the collective resolve of the nation, including its security agencies, is unwavering in the fight against terrorism.
General Munir assured that the Pakistan Army, in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, would conduct synchronized and vigorous operations to “relentlessly pursue the enemies of peace” in order to ensure long-term stability and security.
During the visit, the COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the region’s current security situation, along with updates on ongoing counter-terrorism operations. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and senior field commanders were present at the briefing.
Paying tribute to the martyrs and surviving veterans, General Munir highlighted the immense sacrifices made in defense of the homeland, noting that these acts of valor are the foundation of Pakistan’s resilience and inspire the steadfast commitment of both the armed forces and law enforcement agencies. He also lauded the high morale, operational readiness, and resolute dedication of the troops in effectively countering all threats.
