Islamabad, November 28, 2024-Disheartened Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers vented their frustration by smashing the windows of vehicles belonging to Bushra Bibi, wife of the PTI founder, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The incident occurred after both leaders left a protest unexpectedly, leaving participants feeling abandoned.
Videos circulating on social media show protesters throwing stones and hitting the vehicles with sticks. The workers reportedly believed the sit-in would continue until the PTI founder’s release. However, the protest ended abruptly following a government crackdown, sparking outrage among supporters.
Another video shows Bushra Bibi switching vehicles late Tuesday night, moving from her car to Gandapur’s vehicle. Sources indicate the change occurred after police action at Jinnah Avenue in Islamabad.
Bushra Bibi’s convoy initially traveled to Sector G-8 before she joined Gandapur in his vehicle. The footage captured two security vehicles accompanying the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister. Bushra was seen boarding Gandapur’s car, which later departed towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa via Margalla Road and Pir Sohawa Road.
Maryam Wattoo, Bushra Bibi’s sister, explained that a flat tire on Bushra’s car prompted the switch. Wattoo added that Bushra instructed her guards to follow the convoy in another vehicle and had directed her driver to engage with protesters before leaving.
Despite these clarifications, the abrupt departure of key leaders left PTI workers feeling betrayed, culminating in an outburst of anger and vandalism targeting the vehicles.
