Islamabad, November 12, 2024- An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by mission chief Nathan Porter met with Pakistan’s Finance Ministry officials on Tuesday to discuss progress under the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, joined by Minister of State for Revenue Ali Pervez Malik, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mehmood Langrial, and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad, welcomed the IMF team at the ministry’s headquarters.
Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on the economic targets achieved in the first quarter of the fiscal year, expressing the government’s commitment to implementing IMF-recommended reforms thoroughly. Finance Ministry officials reported that Pakistan assured the IMF team of continued adherence to reform measures outlined by the IMF, aiming to strengthen economic stability in line with the lender’s guidance.
