Peshawar, November 7, 2024-The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced plans to file an FIR against Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Ali Nasir Rizvi, citing the alleged use of excessive force on PTI workers during recent protests in the capital. The decision came after a cabinet meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The cabinet discussed reports of tear gas deployment and violence against PTI supporters, as well as damages and intimidation incidents at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad. Provincial Minister for Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, stated at the Peshawar Press Club that the FIR will specifically address the attack on KP House, where vehicles and furniture were damaged, and government officials, along with families of MPAs, faced harassment.
Dr. Saif emphasized that the KP government is committed to pursuing legal action against the Islamabad IG. He also referenced prior cases, such as the FIR lodged in Lahore against those obstructing former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s vehicle, and the murder case in Pakistan concerning the killing of MQM leader Dr. Imran Farooq in London, highlighting KP’s stance on similar legal precedents.
In addition to filing the FIR, the cabinet also agreed to submit a writ petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan.
