Beijing, December 15, 2024: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s visit to China has yielded significant results, with Chinese companies committing investments exceeding ₨13 billion (approximately $50 million) in Punjab’s economic and green energy sectors. According to a private news channel, during an investment conference, pivotal agreements were forged between the Punjab government and Chinese firms in IT, environment, and renewable energy. Gobi Partners, a prominent Chinese investment firm, announced a $50 million fund to support startups and SMEs in Punjab.
Key MoUs were signed, including one between Solar N Plus and the Punjab government to advance solar technology. Gobi Partners also partnered with the Bank of Punjab to enhance financial systems for startups through loans, equity investments, and mentoring.
The agreements aim to bolster sustainable development, improve business ecosystems, and establish Punjab as a regional hub for technology and entrepreneurship. Additionally, Chinese firms pledged to collaborate on cutting-edge solar energy projects, with Solar N Plus planning a centre in Punjab to advance renewable energy technologies.
Maryam Nawaz’s visit has been lauded as a milestone in fostering economic growth and strengthening ties between Punjab and China, positioning the province as a leading destination for international investment.
