Rawalpindi, December 26, 2024: A Pakistan Army major was martyred and 13 terrorists were killed during three separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing reported on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation took place in the general area of Jani Khel, Bannu district, following reports of terrorist activity. During the operation, security forces successfully engaged the terrorists’ location, killing two militants.
In a second IBO in North Waziristan district, security forces neutralised five terrorists during an exchange of fire, while eight others were injured. However, during the intense firefight, Major Muhammad Awais, aged 31 and a resident of District Narowal, who was leading his troops from the front, tragically embraced Shahadat.
The third operation occurred in South Waziristan district, where security forces successfully neutralised six terrorists, injuring eight others.
Sanitisation operations are currently underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. The statement stressed that Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate terrorism.
