Washington, October 10,2024-Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, has called on the UN Security Council to launch an investigation into the theft and illegal sale of nuclear materials in India.
Addressing the Security Council, Munir Akram expressed Pakistan’s concern over recent incidents involving the theft and illegal sale of nuclear materials in its neighboring country. He highlighted that this year alone, radioactive materials worth $100 million have been seized. Akram urged the Security Council to take immediate action and investigate the alarming issue of nuclear material theft and illegal trade from India, stressing the potential security risks this poses to the region and beyond.
