Islamabad, September 13, 2024- Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Afghanistan, Asif Khan Durrani, has stepped down from his position.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs sources confirmed that Durrani resigned due to personal reasons. He had assumed the role in May 2023. With his departure, the position of Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan is now vacant.
Durrani previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Kabul from 2005 to 2009 and has also held positions as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran and the United Arab Emirates. His extensive diplomatic career includes postings in New Delhi, New York, Kabul, and London.
