Islamabad (IPS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a major protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on October 15, following an emergency meeting of its political committee. The party has issued a formal statement outlining preparations for a large-scale, peaceful demonstration in the heart of the capital.
According to the declaration, all PTI organizational units and wings, from the central leadership down to the grassroots, have been instructed to finalize their preparations for the protest. In light of this, PTI has also announced the cancellation of planned protests across districts in Punjab to focus on the Islamabad event.
The PTI’s political committee stated that the current “illegitimate rulers,” whom they accuse of stealing the mandate and disregarding the Constitution, are not willing to stop their acts of “oppression and brutality.” The party claims that the incarcerated PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, is being subjected to a new wave of brutality in Adiala Jail. His fundamental human rights, according to PTI, have been deliberately suspended, putting his life, health, and safety in serious jeopardy.
The statement emphasized that Imran Khan, the most popular and respected leader of the nation, represents the political and national aspirations of millions of Pakistanis. PTI warned that if Imran Khan’s basic rights are not immediately restored, including full access to his legal team, doctors, family members, and party leaders, the entire nation will rise in protest on October 15. The political committee also expressed gratitude to the public and PTI workers who protested in Sahiwal and Multan, while demanding the immediate release of those unlawfully detained across Punjab, including party workers, officials, citizens, and members of the provincial assembly. The statement further condemned the “illegal and immoral” raids and arrests, calling for an immediate halt to these violations of privacy and dignity by the Punjab and federal governments.
