Moscow, November 28, 2024 – A historic agreement to enhance parliamentary cooperation between Pakistan and Russia was signed today in Moscow by Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman of the Russian State Duma H.E. Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich. This landmark accord establishes mechanisms for permanent collaboration between the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of Pakistan through parliamentary committees, commissions, and friendship groups.
During the signing ceremony, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq highlighted his longstanding friendship with Chairman Volodin and his close ties with several members of the Russian delegation spanning over a decade. He expressed appreciation for Chairman Volodin’s acceptance of an invitation to visit Pakistan and underscored the importance of deepening bilateral ties.
A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to convene the fourth session of the Speaker’s Conference in Moscow in 2025. The Speaker’s Conference, an important platform for parliamentary dialogue, will further solidify relations between the two nations. Speaker Sadiq also emphasized the need to enhance trade and business ties, reflecting a shared commitment to broader cooperation beyond legislative matters.
The Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, was in Moscow at the invitation of Chairman Volodin. The visit included a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, followed by delegation-level talks that reinforced the growing camaraderie and collaboration between the legislative bodies of both countries.
