Islamabad, October 14,2024- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the names of the heads of delegations attending the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference, set to take place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.
According to the Ministry, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will lead his country’s delegation, while Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will head the Indian delegation. Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, is set to lead the Iranian delegation.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko will represent his country, while Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov and Kyrgyzstan’s Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov will lead their respective delegations.
Additionally, the Prime Ministers of Tajikistan, Kokhir Rasulzoda, and Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, will also attend the conference in Islamabad. Turkmenistan will be represented by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Rashid Meredov.
The Ministry further noted that SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, Executive Director of the SCO’s Executive Committee Arslan Mirzayev, Chairman of the SCO Business Council Board Atif Ikram Sheikh, and Chairman of the SCO Interbank Union Council Marat Yeleubayev will also be in attendance. This high-level participation underscores the importance of the SCO as a platform for regional cooperation and dialogue.
