Dubai, November 13,2024-Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi has reclaimed the top position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings, a major milestone as the team heads toward the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Afridi’s rise follows a series of dominant performances against Australia, where he took eight wickets at an impressive average of 12.62 across three matches.
This leap places Afridi ahead of South African spinner Keshav Maharaj, who dropped to third, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan retains the second spot. Afridi’s achievement further solidifies Pakistan’s strength in ODI cricket, with captain Babar Azam already leading the ODI batting rankings.
Pakistan’s Haris Rauf also saw a significant boost, jumping 14 spots to claim 13th place after a stellar 10-wicket haul earned him the Player of the Series award against Australia. Naseem Shah similarly made gains, advancing 14 places to reach 55th.
Other players around the world also made ranking strides. For ODI batters, Mohammad Rizwan climbed to 23rd following consistent performances against Australia, sharing the spot with Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. In ODI bowling, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie moved up to 14th, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh rose to 23rd.
In T20I rankings, England’s Phil Salt climbed to second in batting, with teammates Jos Buttler and Nicholas Pooran making notable gains. Among T20I bowlers, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga moved up to second, while Akeal Hosein from the West Indies and India’s Ravi Bishnoi secured spots in the top 10.
