Damascus, December 10,2024: In a significant development, Syrian opposition leader Muhammad Al-Bashir has been entrusted with the task of forming an interim government, as confirmed by rebel leader Abu Muhammad Al-Jolani, who played a pivotal role in the ousting of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.
According to Arab media, Abu Muhammad Al-Jolani held extensive discussions with Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi Al-Jalali and Salvation Government head Muhammad Al-Bashir. The meetings reportedly focused on the formation of an interim government in Syria.
While official details of the discussions remain undisclosed, reliable sources suggest that Al-Jolani has formally assigned the responsibility of forming the interim government to Al-Bashir.
It is worth noting that the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, an armed coalition opposing the Assad regime, established the 11-member Salvation Government in Idlib in 2017.
Muhammad Al-Bashir, an electrical engineer and expert in Islamic law, previously served as the Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs in the Salvation Government from 2022 to 2023. This new development is seen as a significant step toward reshaping Syria’s political future amidst ongoing turmoil.
