Islamabad, March 11, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has urged cabinet members to enhance their performance and prepare for rigorous scrutiny to meet public expectations and drive Pakistan’s economic transformation.

Chairing a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the prime minister emphasized that economic growth remained the country’s most pressing concern. He highlighted key sectors—agriculture, commerce, trade, finance, IT, mines and minerals, and maritime—as critical areas for development.

Welcoming newly inducted cabinet members, he expressed confidence in their capabilities, calling them “dedicated individuals” capable of delivering results through sincere efforts and commitment.

The prime minister voiced grave concerns over the resurgence of terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stressing that national security is crucial for economic progress. He acknowledged the daily sacrifices made by law enforcement agencies and the armed forces, emphasizing that without peace, development and prosperity would remain elusive.

“The valiant personnel of the police, armed forces, and rangers are rendering the ultimate sacrifices to defend the nation. Their sacrifices must not be forgotten,” he said. The premier’s remarks come amid a surge in militant attacks, posing a serious challenge to Pakistan’s internal stability.

PM Shehbaz underscored the urgent need for revitalizing Pakistan Railways and harnessing the Maritime Affairs Ministry’s potential to contribute to economic growth. He also announced a quarterly performance review of all ministries, directing federal ministers and secretaries to come well-prepared for upcoming assessments.

On the economic front, the prime minister noted that foreign remittances had surged past $3.1 billion, stressing the need to expand exports at a similar pace to sustain economic momentum.

The prime minister announced the creation of a state-of-the-art university, funded by £190 million received from the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA). The Daanish University, set to launch in August 2026, will offer advanced education in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and technology.

With rising security concerns and an ambitious economic agenda, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring both national security and extraordinary governance performance across all sectors.
