Islamabad, March 13, 2025: The National Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, pledging strict action against those seeking to destabilize the country.

The resolution, moved by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, expressed deep concern over the attack and reaffirmed the House’s unwavering commitment to national security. It categorically rejected extremist ideologies that threaten Pakistan’s stability, vowing that no such elements would be allowed to operate within the country.

Commending the security forces for their swift and successful rescue operation, the resolution stated, “The entire nation stands in solidarity with the innocent citizens who lost their lives in this tragic incident.” It further emphasized the urgent need for a unified national strategy to combat terrorism.

Addressing the Assembly, MNA Farooq Sattar stressed that mere condemnation was insufficient, urging the government and political leadership to take decisive action to prevent future attacks.

“Our security forces have done their part by rescuing the hostages. Now, it is the responsibility of the political leadership to unite and develop a comprehensive counterterrorism strategy,” he asserted.

During the session, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif praised the military’s rapid response to the attack, calling it a “milestone in the war against terrorism.” However, he strongly criticized PTI, accusing it of spreading misinformation regarding the incident.

“PTI’s social media team falsely claimed that the hostages were released by the militants rather than rescued by our security forces,” Asif alleged. “This misleading narrative was deliberately crafted by PTI members abroad, including known fugitives, to undermine national institutions.”

He further accused PTI of hypocrisy, stating, “Those who once thrived under martial law now question the sacrifices of our armed forces. For four years, PTI was in power, regularly briefed on counterterrorism efforts by General Bajwa and Faiz Hameed, yet today, they disown their past associations.”

The session concluded with a strong call for national unity against terrorism and a reaffirmation of the state’s commitment to eliminating extremist threats.
