Dubai, March 19, 2025: Pakistan’s cricketers have experienced significant ranking shifts in the latest ICC T20I rankings following their disappointing start in the five-match series against New Zealand.
Former captain Babar Azam, who is not part of the current squad, has dropped from seventh to eighth place with 702 points. White-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan maintains his ninth position, while Saim Ayub has slipped three spots to 62nd with 473 points.
New Zealand players have seen major gains in the rankings, reflecting their strong performance in the series. Tim Seifert and Finn Allen have been key during the Powerplay, with Seifert climbing 20 places to 13th after scores of 44 and 45, while Allen has jumped eight spots to 18th following innings of 29* and 38. Meanwhile, Australia’s Travis Head remains the top-ranked T20I batter, followed by India’s Abhishek Sharma and England’s Phil Salt.
Pakistan’s bowlers have also seen significant ranking changes. Shaheen Afridi has dropped six places to 29th with 575 points after struggling in the series. However, Haris Rauf has climbed four spots to 26th with 586 points after taking two wickets in the second T20I. Abbas Afridi, who has not played in the series yet, has fallen three places to 44th, while Naseem Shah has dropped two spots to 78th. Vice-captain Shadab Khan has faced a significant setback, falling 10 places to 82nd.
New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy has achieved a career-best ranking, moving up 23 places to 12th overall after claiming six wickets in the first two matches. West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein continues to hold the top spot among T20I bowlers, with India’s Varun Chakaravarthy in second and England’s Adil Rashid in third.
