Islamabad, September 14-2024-The federal government has decided to file a separate request in the United States for the release of Pakistani citizen Dr. Aafia Siddiqui on humanitarian grounds. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to raise the issue with U.S. officials during his upcoming visit to the United Nations.

Islamabad High Court Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan has issued a written order regarding the petition filed by Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. In the written order, the court noted that the Attorney General of Pakistan appeared in court and assured that the federal government has no objection to the appeal for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release on humanitarian grounds.

According to the order, the Attorney General informed the court that the government has no reason not to support the humanitarian appeal prepared by Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui’s lawyer for her sister’s release.
