Agra, September 14, 2024 — The Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most renowned landmarks, has been impacted by the recent heavy rains in Agra. Officials have reported leaks in the main dome of the monument and are planning urgent repairs to maintain its structural integrity.

Over the past three days, Agra has experienced severe rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging throughout the city. Flooding has disrupted a national highway, submerged crops, and affected upscale neighborhoods.

While the recent rains have caused water leakage at the Taj Mahal’s main dome—a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World—there have been no reported issues with the monument’s foundations. The adjacent garden was also submerged, but the monument itself remains secure. Rajkumar Patel, the Superintending Chief of the ASI Agra Circle, mentioned that drone cameras have been used to inspect the structure and evaluate any potential damage.
