Islamabad, September 15, 2024- Government leaders have announced that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will back the government in the upcoming constitutional amendment. This amendment is part of a broader package that includes the creation of a constitutional court, with a procedure for appointing its judges currently being developed. The appointment of new judges aims to provide timely relief to the general public.

Sources reveal that in a meeting last night, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman resolved their differences, paving the way for the constitutional amendment to be tabled in the National Assembly and Senate today.

Government insiders confirm that they have the necessary majority in both the National Assembly and Senate to pass the amendment. Additionally, changes are being proposed regarding the votes of dissenting members, with a draft amendment to Article 63-A of the Constitution already prepared.

Officials have also claimed that they have secured sufficient support in the Senate for the constitutional changes. Earlier, PML-N leader and National Assembly member Tariq Fazal Chaudhry expressed confidence that the government has enough votes to pass the amendment.
