Jeddah, April 11, 2025: In a significant development, Saudi Arabia has increased Pakistan’s Hajj quota by 10,000 pilgrims, officials announced on Friday. The decision was made following a formal request by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar during his recent discussion with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The increase brings much-needed relief as thousands of Pakistani pilgrims remain on waiting lists. Authorities say the additional slots will help accommodate the growing number of applicants and ease logistical pressure ahead of this year’s pilgrimage.
Pakistani officials welcomed the move, calling it a reflection of the strong bilateral relations and Riyadh’s continued support for the people of Pakistan.
Earlier this week, Pakistan launched the second phase of mandatory Hajj training for pilgrims, building on the first phase conducted earlier this year. During a recent session, officials reminded attendees that they represent Pakistan abroad and must respect local laws and customs.
“Hajj pilgrims are going as ambassadors of Pakistan. Take care of the laws there,” said Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed Yousaf. “Do not do anything that could bring disrespect to your country.”
Yousaf also expressed gratitude to the Saudi government, praising the Kingdom for its outstanding arrangements and reaffirming that Pakistani pilgrims would be well looked after during the pilgrimage.
He further announced that mandatory vaccinations for Pakistani pilgrims will begin on April 20.
