Mumbai, April 25, 2025: Songs from the upcoming Indo-Pak film Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, have been removed from YouTube India following a wave of online backlash linked to the recent Pahalgam attack.
The tracks, titled “Khudaya Ishq” and “Angreji Rangrasiya”, were previously available on the official YouTube channels of A Richer Lens Entertainment and Saregama, which holds the film’s music rights. As of Friday, both songs have been pulled from the platforms, triggering speculation over their abrupt disappearance.
The move comes amid intensifying social media campaigns calling for a boycott of the film, which features a rare cross-border collaboration between Indian and Pakistani artists. The backlash appears to be driven by heightened national sentiments in the wake of the deadly April 21 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 27 people were killed.
Adding to the speculation, the release of a third track, “Tain Tain”, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has also been delayed without explanation.
Neither the film’s producers nor its cast—including lead stars Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor—have made any public statements regarding the removal of the songs or the postponement of the new release.
Abir Gulaal, directed by debutant filmmaker Kabir Mehra, is slated for a June 2025 release. However, the recent developments have cast uncertainty over the film’s promotional rollout and reception.
