Lahore, October 25,2026: Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi reached a major milestone in ODI cricket on Sunday, becoming the country’s fastest fast bowler to take 150 wickets in the format during the fourth match of the tri-series against England at Gaddafi Stadium.

Shaheen achieved the landmark by dismissing England opener Tom Banton early in the innings. The 26-year-old reached 150 ODI wickets in his 80th match, becoming the second-fastest Pakistani bowler overall to reach the milestone.

Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq remains the fastest Pakistani bowler to take 150 ODI wickets, having achieved the feat in 78 matches.

Shaheen, however, surpassed pace greats Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar, who each took 91 matches to reach the milestone, to become Pakistan’s quickest fast bowler to the landmark.

Fastest Pakistani bowlers to 150 ODI wickets

  • Saqlain Mushtaq — 78 matches
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi — 80 matches
  • Waqar Younis — 91 matches
  • Shoaib Akhtar — 91 matches
  • Saeed Ajmal — 93 matches
  • Umar Gul — 104 matches

The achievement further highlights Shaheen’s importance to Pakistan’s bowling attack. He is also the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing tri-series, with five wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 5.19.

At the time this report was filed, England were struggling at 52-3 after nine overs in their chase against Pakistan. Shaheen had dismissed both Tom Banton and Joe Root, while England captain Harry Brook had been run out.

Ben Duckett and Jordan Cox were at the crease, attempting to steady England’s innings
