Islamabad, April 25, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has penned a detailed letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Justice Sarfraz Dogar, raising serious concerns over what he describes as political victimisation and the erosion of the rule of law in the country.

The nine-page letter, titled “The State of the Constitution and Enforcement of Law in Pakistan,” was drafted by senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja on Khan’s behalf. In it, the former prime minister highlights the registration of over 200 cases against him and describes the imprisonment of both himself and his wife Bushra Bibi as politically motivated.

Khan also lists prominent PTI leaders including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhry as victims of continued incarceration, alleging targeted actions against the party’s leadership.

The letter outlines harsh conditions in which Khan claims he is being held. He says he has been allowed to speak to his sons only twice in four months, denied access to Bushra Bibi, newspapers, and legal counsel, and at times confined to a small cell for several days.

Khan alleges that due to the lack of in-prison hearings, he has been cut off from both his legal team and family for the past two months. He accuses authorities of routinely cancelling scheduled meetings with his lawyers.

The letter also references recent political events, including the February 8 general elections, the November 26 rally, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment, asserting that only the constitutional bench can adjudicate key issues such as military courts and the allocation of reserved seats.

Khan’s appeal comes amid ongoing political tensions and criticism of Pakistan’s judicial and legal frameworks by PTI and its supporters, who claim a crackdown is underway against dissenting voices.
