Kakul, April 26, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an impartial international investigation into the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 27 tourists. Speaking at the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, the premier rejected India’s “baseless allegations” against Pakistan following the incident.

Highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, the prime minister reiterated that Pakistan remains a frontline state against terrorism. He warned that any Indian attempt to violate the Indus Waters Treaty by restricting Pakistan’s water supply would provoke a strong and decisive response. “There should be no misunderstanding in this regard,” he stressed.

Sharif pointed out that Pakistan has always rejected terrorism in all its forms, noting that the country has suffered more than 90,000 casualties and billions of dollars in economic losses due to terrorism.

As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan aims to continue promoting global peace and security, he said.

Touching upon regional dynamics, the prime minister emphasized that Pakistan seeks peaceful relations with neighboring Afghanistan, calling it a brotherly Islamic country. However, he expressed serious concern over terrorist activities originating from Afghan soil, warning that Pakistan could not tolerate such actions. He added that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had recently conveyed this message to Afghan authorities during a visit to Kabul.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s historic stance on Kashmir, Shehbaz Sharif invoked Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision, describing Kashmir as the “jugular vein” of Pakistan. He lamented that despite decades of sacrifices by the Kashmiri people, the international community had failed to resolve the long-standing dispute.

The prime minister attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir served as the guest of honour (military). The event was also attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and several foreign dignitaries.
