Tehran, September 17, 2024- Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a strong appeal for Muslim unity, condemning the global apathy towards the suffering of Muslims in regions like Myanmar, Gaza, and India.
In a post on X, Khamenei stated, “The enemies of Islam have always sought to weaken our shared identity as an Islamic Ummah. We cannot truly call ourselves Muslims if we turn a blind eye to the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Myanmar, Gaza, India, or anywhere else.”
Khamenei emphasized that the path to preserving the dignity of the Islamic Ummah lies in unity. “Today, it is our undeniable duty to stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine. Those who ignore this duty will be held accountable by God,” he warned. He also highlighted attempts by external forces to deepen divisions between Shia and Sunni communities, both within Iran and globally. “By using ideological, propagandistic, media, and economic tools, ill-intentioned actors aim to drive a wedge between Shia and Sunni. They fuel divisions by encouraging insults and hostility on both sides. The answer is to focus on unity,” Khamenei urged
