Dhaka, April 28, 2025: Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy has been suspended for four matches by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after showing dissent over an umpiring decision during a Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) match.

The 24-year-old, who captains Mohammedan Sporting Club and has played 77 international matches for Bangladesh, reacted angrily after being dismissed against Gazi Group Cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Officials charged Hridoy with a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the BCB’s Code of Conduct, which covers showing dissent at an umpire’s decision. Although he denied the charge and requested a hearing, he failed to attend the disciplinary session.

According to the BCB, Hridoy was fined 10,000 Taka and handed an additional demerit point by match referee Akhtar Ahmad. Having already accumulated seven demerit points from earlier infractions, the latest violation brought his total to eight, triggering an automatic four-match suspension under the DPDCL disciplinary rules.

This is Hridoy’s second disciplinary issue in the ongoing tournament, after an earlier one-match suspension was deferred following player protests. His latest ban is a major blow to Mohammedan Sporting Club’s campaign.
