Islamabad, May 2, 2025: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has dismissed suggestions that tensions with India have eased, asserting that the threat remains real and imminent. Speaking during an interview with a private television channel, Asif stated, “I categorically deny that the threat from India has been eliminated — it is 100% present. Pakistan’s preparations are complete, and our army chief is leading from the front.”

He emphasized that the Pakistan Army is fully ready to defend the nation and warned India to brace for a “major shock.” Asif added, “Our armed forces will not hesitate to make any sacrifice. India should prepare for consequences.”

Referring to the military leadership, the minister said, “Our Chief of Army Staff is personally visiting all frontlines, boosting the morale of the troops and leading by example. His direct engagement with soldiers has built trust and confidence across ranks.”

Responding to recent domestic political narratives, Asif criticized calls for the release of the PTI founder, saying, “Those demanding to bring him out of jail and sit him at the table — have they forgotten the past? Show some shame, show some dignity.”

He also addressed international developments, noting, “There is growing pressure from the international community, and we’ll see the results of that in the next few days.” Asif questioned India’s reluctance to investigate the recent Pahalgam incident, calling the claims baseless. “If the attack were real, why is India avoiding an investigation?”

On the political front, Asif claimed that only PTI expresses conditional loyalty to the country. “All other parties are with Pakistan. Had their leader acted differently, he wouldn’t be behind bars today. I don’t want to speak on this at such a critical time, but their attitude is visible to everyone.”

The defense minister also announced that the National Assembly will convene on Monday to discuss the situation. If required, a joint session of Parliament may follow.
