Islamabad, May 3, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan is responding with restraint and responsibility to India’s provocative rhetoric following the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He said India has failed to provide any credible evidence linking Pakistan to the attack and is instead attempting to falsely implicate the country.
In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all forms and has paid a heavy price in the fight against it, sacrificing over 90,000 lives and suffering economic losses exceeding $152 billion.
The remarks came during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu at the Prime Minister House on Saturday. The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and recalled his recent visit to Ankara on April 22, where discussions were held to further strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif thanked Türkiye for its continued support, including President Erdoğan’s recent call for peace in South Asia, and welcomed any Turkish role in an international investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He reiterated Pakistan’s offer for a credible, transparent, and impartial probe, stressing the country’s willingness to cooperate fully.
Highlighting Pakistan’s focus on economic recovery and regional stability, the Prime Minister called for peace in the neighborhood as a prerequisite for development.
Ambassador Neziroglu reaffirmed Türkiye’s solidarity with Pakistan, calling for restraint and the de-escalation of tensions. Earlier, PM Shehbaz also expressed gratitude to Chinese Premier Li Qiang for supporting Pakistan’s call for an international investigation, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.
