New York, May 3, 2025: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has called on Washington to adopt a proactive and constructive role in easing regional tensions, particularly in the wake of the ongoing strain between Pakistan and India.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Ambassador Sheikh urged the U.S. administration to take a broader and more balanced view of the decades-old Jammu and Kashmir dispute, describing the region as a “nuclear flashpoint” where any misstep could endanger millions of lives.

Referring to U.S. President Donald Trump’s stated commitment to global peace, the ambassador said, “President Trump has a historic opportunity to help defuse the tensions and promote stability in South Asia.”

Sheikh reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and de-escalation. He also expressed Islamabad’s willingness to support a neutral, transparent, and credible investigation into the recent Pahalgam incident, provided India agrees to cooperate. “We are still waiting for a positive response from New Delhi, but unfortunately, none has come so far,” he said.

Highlighting the root causes of regional instability, Sheikh emphasized that the Kashmir conflict remains central to lasting peace in South Asia. “Just as the world responds to other international conflicts, the Kashmir issue also deserves serious global attention,” he said, calling for a fair and lasting resolution.

He concluded by underscoring the global community’s shared responsibility, particularly that of the United States, in advancing international peace and preventing further escalation in a volatile region.
