Dubai, May 5, 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its annual team rankings update, revealing significant shifts across all three formats. Pakistan have slipped in the standings, while Sri Lanka emerged as one of the most notable climbers.

Test rankings

Australia continue to dominate the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, retaining the top position with a rating of 126. However, their lead has slightly narrowed from 15 to 13 points following the annual update, which gives full weight (100%) to matches played since May 2024 and half weight (50%) to those from the preceding two years.

England, under the leadership of Ben Stokes, have risen to second place after a strong run, winning three of their last four Test series. Their rating stands at 113, pushing South Africa (111) and India (105) down to third and fourth, respectively.

Pakistan remained in seventh place, with Sri Lanka moving just ahead of them into sixth. New Zealand stayed fifth, while West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe round out the top ten.

Ireland need to play one more Test in the coming year to become officially ranked. Afghanistan require three more matches to meet eligibility criteria.

ODI rankings

India further consolidated their lead in the ODI rankings after clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Their rating increased from 122 to 124. New Zealand, the runners-up, moved into second place, ahead of Australia, who slipped to third.

Sri Lanka made a significant leap to fourth, thanks to recent series victories over both India and Australia. This rise allowed them to surpass both Pakistan—now in fifth with a modest one-point gain—and South Africa, who fell to sixth after losing four points.

Afghanistan jumped to seventh, pushing England down to eighth. West Indies climbed to ninth with a five-point gain, while Bangladesh fell to tenth after dropping four points.

Among associate nations, the USA registered the largest rating increase (+6 points) but remained 15th. Oman overtook Canada to claim the 16th spot.

T20I rankings

In T20 Internationals, India remain at the summit following their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup triumph, but their lead over second-placed Australia has narrowed to nine points. England are third, followed by New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa.

Sri Lanka’s rise continued here as well, moving up to seventh by overtaking Pakistan, who dropped to eighth. Bangladesh and Afghanistan occupy the ninth and tenth positions. Ireland climbed to 11th, swapping places with Zimbabwe.

Among lower-ranked teams, Canada gained nine rating points to break into the top 20. The Bahamas and Estonia made the biggest positional jumps, climbing eight and seven spots to 51st and 61st, respectively.
