Islamabad, May 10, 2025: As tensions between Pakistan and India de-escalate following a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, key international allies — including China, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia — have lauded Pakistan’s responsible approach and commitment to regional stability.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held important telephonic discussions with his Chinese and Turkish counterparts amid the heightened regional crisis triggered by India’s unprovoked military actions.

During a call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Dar briefed him on the evolving security situation, particularly India’s recent hostilities and Pakistan’s measured military response. Wang Yi praised Pakistan’s restraint and its responsible conduct under challenging circumstances. Both leaders underscored the importance of strong communication and pledged to maintain close diplomatic engagement. Wang Yi reiterated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national freedom.

In a separate conversation, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was apprised of the deteriorating regional conditions. Dar highlighted the loss of innocent civilian lives due to strikes on mosques and residential areas. He emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to self-defense under the UN Charter. Expressing condolences over the casualties, Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s solidarity with Pakistan and its support during this critical time.

Saudi Arabia also welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, expressing optimism that the development would pave the way for long-term peace and stability in South Asia. In a statement released by the Saudi Embassy in Islamabad, the Kingdom voiced its support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation and a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

Meanwhile, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy echoed similar sentiments in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). “I urge both Pakistan and India to adhere to the ceasefire. De-escalation is in everyone’s interest,” he wrote, calling for continued restraint from both sides to ensure regional peace.

The coordinated international support underscores growing global consensus on the need for diplomatic solutions in South Asia’s most volatile bilateral relationship.
