India violates ceasefire with heavy shelling in Barnala, Chhamb sectors; Pakistan Army responds swiftly

Rawalpindi, May 10, 2025: In a serious breach of the newly established ceasefire, Indian forces launched heavy shelling on the Barnala and Chhamb sectors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, prompting panic among civilians and drawing an immediate and forceful response from the Pakistan Army.

Local sources reported that the unprovoked attack targeted several villages, damaging homes and forcing families to flee. The sudden escalation has led to a state of emergency being declared in the affected border areas, with local authorities initiating the evacuation of residents to safer zones.

“The Pakistan Army remains fully prepared to defend every inch of the homeland,” said a military spokesperson. Troops responded swiftly, effectively neutralizing enemy positions and silencing the source of hostile fire.

Eyewitnesses in Barnala described a terrifying scene, with shelling continuing for several hours. “We were forced to leave everything behind,” one resident said. “The explosions were deafening, and the children were crying. It was chaos.”

In a related development, military sources confirmed that multiple drones were intercepted and downed in the areas of Peshawar, Bahawalpur, and Gujrat, pointing to a broader pattern of aggression despite the ceasefire.

This latest violation comes just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire following days of deadly cross-border attacks. The renewed hostilities underscore the fragility of the agreement and the challenges that lie ahead in maintaining lasting peace between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
