Islamabad, May 12, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced that Pakistan will commemorate May 10 each year as the Day of Marka-e-Haq, to honour the nation’s resilience and military triumph in the recent conflict with India.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif said the day will be observed with a spirit of national unity and pride in the valour of Pakistan’s armed forces, who, he said, displayed “exceptional skill and made the entire nation proud.”

As part of the nationwide commemorations, the prime minister also declared Friday, May 16, as a Day of Gratitude, during which the Pakistan Armed Forces will be formally honoured for their achievements in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a key component of the broader Marka-e-Haq campaign.

Sharif also announced a comprehensive compensation package for families affected by Indian missile strikes. Each civilian martyr’s family will receive Rs10 million, while injured civilians will receive Rs1 to Rs2 million, based on injury severity.

The families of martyred soldiers from the Pakistan Army will receive Rs10 million to Rs18 million, along with housing assistance ranging from Rs19 million to Rs42 million to support the construction of new homes.

“This is a solemn pledge by the state to honour the sacrifices of our heroes — both civilian and military — who defended the nation’s sovereignty,” the prime minister said.
