Attock, May 15, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday paid a special visit to PAF Base Kamra to commend the valiant Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilots who played a decisive role in repelling recent Indian aggression and securing Pakistan’s airspace during one of the longest aerial engagements of the 21st century.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit aimed to honour the “Shaheens” of the PAF whose exceptional skill and swift response established air superiority and downed several Indian aircraft during the high-stakes confrontation.
“The entire nation stands proud of your courage. You have not only defended our skies but also upheld Pakistan’s honour on the global stage,” said Prime Minister Sharif while addressing the air warriors.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by senior members of his cabinet and top military leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. Also present were Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.
Officials were briefed on the operational details of the PAF’s air defence response, codenamed Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, during which Pakistan reportedly shot down multiple Indian fighter jets, including advanced Rafale aircraft, following Indian strikes on Pakistani territory.
The Prime Minister praised the PAF’s professionalism, discipline, and unmatched readiness, saying their efforts had “reinforced Pakistan’s defensive strength and earned global respect.”
He further affirmed the government’s full support for the armed forces and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, while reserving the right to respond decisively to any provocation.
