Islamabad, May 18, 2025: On the directions of the Honourable Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defence, the CDA has activated its emergency and disaster management teams, including all fire and rescue units across substations, to respond to the ongoing rain emergency in the federal capital.

Rescue teams have been deployed across various sectors of Islamabad, conducting patrols to maintain vigilance, promptly respond to emergencies, and provide immediate assistance to citizens affected by the severe weather.

Among several successful operations, a significant rescue was carried out in Sector E-7 near Street 20, where a large tree—uprooted by strong winds and stormy conditions—fell onto a moving vehicle. The incident, while sudden and alarming, ended without casualties, as the driver remained unharmed. Passersby quickly alerted the CDA rescue team, which responded without delay, arriving on site with specialized equipment.

The rescue team skillfully extricated the driver from the damaged vehicle and safely removed the fallen tree, restoring normal traffic flow. Authorities credited the car’s sturdy structure and the team’s swift action for averting injuries.

In another incident, CDA fire and rescue teams responded to a fire call in Sector F-8/2, while additional teams managed waterlogging in low-lying areas, ensuring public safety and minimizing disruption caused by the downpour.

The CDA Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate, in coordination with the Environment Wing, Islamabad Police, and District Administration, continues to monitor the situation closely and remains on high alert.

CDA officials reaffirmed their commitment to public safety and urged residents to immediately report emergencies to the relevant departments so that timely action can be taken.
