Islamabad, May 26, 2025: In a move to accelerate the transformation of Islamabad into a regional horticultural center, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, conducted a surprise visit to the CDA Nursery located on Park Road. He was accompanied by Member Environment, Member Administration, Member Engineering, and other senior officers.

The visit focused on reviewing the ongoing upgrade, restoration, and transformation of the nursery into the “Gardenia Hub”, a landmark initiative aimed at revitalizing urban green spaces and boosting Islamabad’s environmental identity.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the upgraded nursery will feature modern and aesthetically designed flower shops, alongside innovative greenhouses with controlled ventilation systems. He also announced the inclusion of tissue propagation laboratories, reflecting the CDA’s shift toward scientific horticulture and sustainable plant production.

“The vision behind this transformation is to position Islamabad as a major horticultural hub,” Randhawa stated. “The Gardenia Hub will serve as a center for vibrant flower exhibitions, community interaction, and environmental awareness.”

He directed concerned departments to allocate dedicated exhibition spaces and ensure that the final design reflects aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. The project will promote both commercial floriculture and public engagement with nature, he added.

Chairman Randhawa instructed CDA formations to mobilize all available resources to convert the existing nursery into a state-of-the-art horticultural facility that aligns with Islamabad’s green development goals.

The Gardenia Hub initiative is part of CDA’s broader commitment to enhancing urban biodiversity, supporting eco-tourism, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship in the federal capital.
