Islamabad, May 28, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defence, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, visited the CDA Nursery on Park Road to review ongoing development work aimed at transforming the facility into the ‘Gardenia Hub’ — a state-of-the-art horticulture and recreational center.

The Chairman was accompanied by Member Environment, Member Administration, Member Engineering, and Member Finance CDA, who briefed him on various components of the ambitious upgrade project.

During the visit, Chairman Randhawa conducted a detailed inspection of the construction work and emphasized that the primary goal of the initiative is to position Islamabad as a regional leader in horticulture and urban greening.

“The transformation of CDA Nursery into the Gardenia Hub will not only enhance the natural beauty of the capital but also create a new recreational space for residents,” he said. He directed that modern and aesthetically designed flower shops be completed on a fast-track basis to serve both commercial and public interests.

In line with international standards, the Chairman instructed the installation of state-of-the-art, climate-controlled greenhouses, which will provide optimal conditions for plant growth and support research and innovation in floriculture.

He also announced the establishment of a Tissue Culture Laboratory within the nursery. This advanced facility will enable the propagation of high-quality, disease-free plant varieties using modern biotechnology.

Chairman Randhawa stressed the importance of dedicated display areas for vibrant seasonal and off-season flowers, allowing the public to enjoy and engage with the diversity of plant life.

“This initiative reflects CDA’s broader vision to promote environmental sustainability and green urban development. We are committed to transforming Islamabad into a model capital city that prioritizes ecology, aesthetics, and citizen well-being,” he said.

He further directed that all available resources be mobilized to ensure the timely completion of the project and instructed concerned departments to develop a comprehensive implementation timeline. The Chairman emphasized that the project would not only beautify the city but also generate employment and boost the horticulture sector locally and nationally.

“By incorporating the latest technology and adhering to global best practices, the Gardenia Hub will set a new benchmark in urban green infrastructure,” Randhawa added.

Concluding his visit, the CDA Chairman reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to delivering sustainable, citizen-friendly projects that contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant Islamabad.
