Islamabad, May 29, 2025: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed June 6 for the hearing of sentence suspension pleas filed by former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the high-profile £190 million corruption case.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear the appeals, which seek relief from the sentences handed down to the couple earlier this year.

The PTI founder and his wife were convicted in connection with a case involving the alleged misuse of £190 million—originally returned by the UK’s National Crime Agency to Pakistan—for personal benefit. Following the convictions, Khan’s legal team submitted appeals and separate petitions seeking suspension of the sentences pending adjudication.

The PTI leadership had earlier urged the IHC to expedite proceedings on constitutional grounds. A miscellaneous petition was filed by Imran Khan through his lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar, requesting an urgent hearing. The federal government and Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were made respondents.

The petition noted that the case had originally been scheduled for March 24, but was deferred due to the unavailability of the lead counsel, who was engaged in a murder trial before the Supreme Court, and a short cause list. The matter remained pending through the Eid holidays.

This latest development comes amid a flurry of legal activity surrounding Khan, who faces multiple convictions and ongoing trials since being ousted from office in 2022.
