Federal cabinet approves Budget 2025–26 proposals

Islamabad, June 10, 2025: The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the budget proposals for the fiscal year 2025–26 during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is scheduled to present the approved budget in the National Assembly later today.

According to official details, the government has set the GDP growth target at 4.2% for the upcoming fiscal year. The current account deficit is projected at $2.1 billion, equivalent to -0.5% of GDP.

The revised National Development Plan includes a total allocation of over Rs4,223 billion for development projects across the country. Of this, Rs2,869 billion has been earmarked for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Federal ministries and divisions will receive over Rs682 billion for their respective development initiatives. Key allocations under the PSDP include:

  • National Highway Authority: Rs226.98 billion
  • Power Division: Rs90.22 billion
  • Water Resources Division: Rs133.42 billion

The government aims to prioritize infrastructure development, energy sustainability, and water resource management as part of its broader economic and social development strategy.
